Thomas Quasthoff & Trio | sold out
Nice ’n‘ Easy
Thomas Quasthoff eludes any categorization. Trained as a classical bass baritone in the so-called "serious subject", the singer is now known to audiences far beyond the classical borders. In 2012 he bid farewell to the classical concert podium and the opera stage in order to devote himself to his great love - jazz singing. "I have always been very fond of jazz, strongly influenced by my brother," says Thomas Quasthoff in the "Hamburg Journal" of NDR television. "And when I stopped singing classical music almost five years ago, friends came up to me and said, man, don't you feel like just doing jazz? And my voice was completely gone a year and a half after my brother's death, but it came back, and now we're doing jazz here with three world-class musicians, and it's a lot of fun." The triple Grammy and six-time ECHO winner is, to say it in his own words, a "ramp sow" through and through, extroverted, unrestrained and endowed with an irrepressible will to express. And after the end of his career as a classical singer, he now lives it out in jazz - scattering, grooving, with a lot of heart and soul and a remarkable casualness.
