Luigi Grasso is one of the outstanding Italian jazz musicians of our time. He began playing the saxophone at the age of five and released his first album at the age of 13. He lived in Paris from 2010 to 2019 and has been a permanent member of the NDR Big Band, one of the most exciting formations of its kind, since 2019. He has written this programme especially for ‘his’ band. La Dimora dell'Altrove can be read in two ways: Homesickness (for which there is no Italian word!) or: finding a new home. Both characterise life, not only that of Luigi Grasso. The NDR Bigband has been an integral part of JazzBaltica for decades. With outstanding soloists, great ensemble playing and plenty of enthusiasm, the band returns to the festival this year and Luigi Grasso says: ‘Everyone gives their best - that inspires me!’
