Latvian Radio Big Band
The Latvian Radio Big Band has long enjoyed legendary status in its home country. It first played here seven years ago with trumpeter Randy Brecker. Magnus Lindgren, on the other hand, is one of the ‘regulars’ on the Baltic Sea beach. The Swedish multi-instrumentalist not only plays all brass and woodwind instruments with stylistic confidence and incredible virtuosity - he is also seemingly at home in all genres and instrumentations. As a sought-after soloist, he has made a name for himself throughout Europe with small and large ensembles - and not just in jazz, but also with crossover projects between jazz and classical music. With pianist John Beasley, he has an equally accomplished bandleader at his side. Virtuosity and inspiration meet an emotionally highly motivated sound ensemble.

The trombonist and singer Rita Payés was a guest here four years ago, together with her mother Elisabeth Roma, who is an exceptional classical guitarist. 25-year-old Rita Payés Roma has lived and breathed music since childhood thanks to her musical family. She studied piano and later her main instrument, the trombone. In 2017, she joined the well-known Sant Andreu Jazz Band and recorded her first album at the age of 16 under the direction of bassist and saxophonist Joan Chamorro.
Her current project ranges from the world of classical music to traditional Catalan lullabies, bossa nova, fado and boleros. And Elisabeth Roma is of course back again.
