The Birds is a musical story about human rights for young people and those who want to become one. And it may remind you a little of Romeo and Juliet.
Chilli, a red bird with a great talent for flying, inexplicably lives in a tree with blue birds and is bullied. He dreams of flying out into the world and finding his own kind: a tree with other red birds. Before he sets off, he rescues the blue bird boss's daughter and they become friends. He finally finds the red tree, only to discover that things are just as marginalising there. His own people are no better. So, together with the yellow post bird Nane and his blue friend Lanka, he founds his own family tree and invites all the colourful and quirky birds to join him. This is how peace is created in diversity and with music.
The concert is based on a musical radio play that the actress and author Katja Riemann published in 2010, together with the guitarist Arne Jansen, who wrote the songs.
