Fette Hupe

If a big band deserves that name, it's this one. The collaboration of innovative forces of modern jazz from the North German scene plays the most fat arrangements, honks great solos and has as much charm and wit as the band name promises. Under the direction of Timo Warnecke and Jörn Marcussen-Wulff the integration of different generations of musicians and the close networking with the jazz scenes of Hamburg, Berlin, Cologne and Leipzig succeeded. The big band has developed a new, unique voice and stands for innovative, cross-genre projects in collaboration with other artists, proving again and again how exciting and versatile big band music can sound. The energetically, interactively playing soloists enter into an exciting symbiosis with the harmony and power of the jazz orchestra.
"Really fat! - I can't describe it any better." [Nils]

Marcin Wasilewski Trio

Years ago the trio of pianist Marcin Wasilewski accompanied the trumpet player Tomasz Stańko and provided an unparalleled star moment at JazzBaltica. In 2015 the trio played with soloist Joakim Milder. Now there is a reunion that brings joy. In the last ten years the brilliant trio has established itself as an independent formation. Especially the last two recordings on ECM, "Spark of Life" and "Live", show the quality of the trio to play own and foreign compositions with tremendous intensity and almost tangible energy. The trio takes their time to develop their concert program on stage. The pieces develop slowly, not only the pianist has his extensive solo spots, bassist Slawomir Kurkiewicz and drummer Michal Miskiewicz are more equal partners than "only" rhythm section. Especially the arrangement of Herbie Hancock's "Actual Proof" of the trio carries the audience away, in the rhythmically very complex piece there is hardly any time to breathe. Marcin Wasilewski's trio can rightly be described as one of the best piano trios in Europe.
"His touch and sense of melody are phenomenal! [Nils]
