Dance Night: Nils Landgren Funk Unit feat. Ray Parker Jr.
"We've been funkin' for a long time, more then twenty years. We've seen the world like it is, are facing all the fears. From Shanghai to New Jersey, seen the Kremlin too. Everywhere we go, funkin' is all we do." The song "Unbreakable" puts in a nutshell what the Nils Landgren Funk Unit is known for: captivating grooving sounds and acclaimed concerts for over 25 years. On the very own American territory, the jazzy soul and funk, Nils Landgren and his sworn troupe proved that European musicians can not only keep up, but even set their own accents - today a matter of course, at the beginning of the nineties a sensation. After 2016 the Funk Unit is finally back at JazzBaltica. With special guest and "Funk Unit honorary member" Ray Parker Jr.: The guitarist and singer who became famous with "Ghostbusters" could already be heard at the Funk Unit classic "Licence To Funk" and contributes his bluesy guitar and his unmistakable voice.
The Nils Landgren Funk Unit plays as replacement for the sick Fred Wesley, who unfortunately can't travel to JazzBaltica.
